Case Study: Hawkes Bay Regional Council
"Geoworx has been a great consultancy to work with, Scott offers a more holistic approach to most conventional GIS consultancies"
- Hellen Simpson, Team Leader GIS (HBRC)
Hellen Simpson (Team Leader, GIS) at Hawkes Bay Regional Council was the first person to reach out to geoworx when it formed back in 2019. The council were looking to upgrade their ArcGIS Enterprise, but they knew they had some problems with data and services. Performance and stability were not what they wanted. geoworx was asked to review the current state and advise on a way forward.
Following a health check, a technical strategy was put forward, then a Solution Architecture Document. A 10.7.1 Pre-Prod environment was deployed, which has since been upgraded to 10.8.1. Production was deployed at 10.8.1.
Under Hellen's management, and support/mentoring from geoworx, the team have moved from legacy GIS work practices (SDE/Server) and fully embraced the opportunities that a well designed ArcGIS Enterprise allows for. The team are currently on a big journey, with a significant reworking of datasets (to meet business need), a migration to the cloud, and a move to ArcGIS Pro. They've learnt lots about the optimisation of web services and what type of service to use in which situation.
Work is still ongoing, but Hellen has kindly agreed to the following Case Study being released.
